She attended the Detroit Day School for the Deaf and graduated from Mackenzie High School in Detroit. Irene was an active member of the National Fraternal Society of the Deaf, the Detroit Association of the Deaf and the Lutheran Church for the Deaf in Michigan for many years, as well as the Gulf Coast Deaf Service Center in Florida.
As a student, she was a champion speller and went all the way to the Michigan State competition basing her spelling solely on what she lip-read.
A loving, caring woman with a cheerful smile, she is missed by her husband, Alex; daughter Kathy; Karen Goss; and grandson, Vitali.
The Irene Jankowski Memorial Fund has been established in her memory at the American Association of the Deaf-Blind. Donations may be sent to: The Irene Jankowski Memorial Fund at: The American Association of the Deaf-Blind, 8630 Fenton Street, Suite 121 , Silver Spring, MD 20910

I remember Irene making us dinner many years ago in Rochester. She was a very good cook. My mom Bernice went with us to the Jankowski house. They both were so gracious to us. It was a little uncomfortable at first as they both were deaf . and we were hearing with very little sign laungage .She was a very quiet gentle caring person. wanting to make us all feel at home. As we did.We will all miss you Irene.
I drop a leave a response each time I like a article on a blog or if I have something to valuable to
contribute to the conversation. It's triggered by the fire displayed in the article I looked at. And after this post Untitled. I was excited enough to post a thought ;-) I actually do have a couple of questions for you if it's okay.
Is it only me or do some of the responses come across as if they are written by brain dead individuals?
:-P And, if you are writing on additional places, I'd like to follow you. Could you list the complete urls of your community sites like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
